Just a Note to Say Hello!

 

Octavia here. Effie said that I should write something to say hello, so... hello! I have been living with mom, dad and Effie for a whole month now and I am having a very good time. Every evening, we run around the bed, hide in the duvet and stash peanuts in mom's pyjamas... while she's wearing them. Dad makes the best nibbles and gives me lots of tummy tickles. Effie says I'm lovely and cuddly and uses me as a pillow when we go to sleep.

I had my spaying operation two weeks ago and I'm already healed up. The vet said dad should make sure I didn't climb or jump about. Dad did a lot of climbing and jumping about while he was trying to stop me from doing it! I am a rat... jumping is what I do best. No, now I come to think about it, nibbling is what I do best. Jumping is what I do second best. No, licking Effie's noggin is what I do second best. Jumping is in there somewhere... probably below grooming dad's knuckles. 

Anyway, nice to meet you. My proper name is Octavia, but mom calls me Tavy-Wavy-Cherry-Peepers. Dad calls me Beautiful. You can call me Tavy.

Effie here. Mom and dad were worried about me because I was so sad when Millie went to get her wings. Rats are very friendly and like to cuddle a lot, you see, and we get lonely very quickly. So mom and dad rushed out and went all the way to Yeovil to adopt a sister for me. Her name is Octavia and she is very daft. She has a big brown mark on her nose, which I think she got from dunking it in chocolate pudding. I have tried licking it off, but it won't budge.

We have a lot in common, including an uncommon interest in baskets. And she is a very good climber. She loves nibbles as much as me... and she likes to lick my noggin. I think Millie would approve of her, so I am going to keep her.
